Paul & Heidi Mehmen, Owners
Paul started working for local contractors while still in high school back in the early 80’s. After graduating from Nashua, he completed college at Calmar with a degree in Building Materials Management. His career in sales began at a local yard in Charles City where he met and married Heidi Hammel in 1989. His career moved them to several locations in Minnesota and by 1991, they were ready to come back to Iowa and open Superior Lumber in Marble Rock, Iowa. They both worked the counter and ran deliveries, along with having a daughter Katelyn in 1994. The business moved in 1996 to the present location in Charles City.
Charles City Staff
Autumn graduated in 2013 from U.N.I. with a Bachelors Degree in Business Management and is experienced in Accounts Payable. Autumn lives by Greene with her boyfriend and many fur babies. She enjoys boating, tubing, traveling and shopping.
Alex joined the Superior Lumber team after graduating from NIACC with a degree in Building Trades. You may find Alex behind the counter, answering phones, unloading freight, out in the yard or on a delivery. In his free time he enjoys being an active member of the Floyd County 4-H Committee, bow fishing, duck hunting and working at home in his carpentry/mechanics shop.
Shaun can be found in the yard, assisting customers, unloading freight or at the counter inside. Shaun joined Superior Lumber in 2005. In his free time, Shaun spends time camping with his family and friends or participating in league darts and in league billards.
A Superior Lumber employee since 2009, Mitch spends most of his time in a delivery truck. When at the yard, Mitch is assisting customers and tidying up. Mitch and his family reside in Charles City.
Jeremy can be found in the yard, in a delivery truck, assisting customers or at the front counter. Jeremy joined Superior Lumber in 2013. He and his family live in Charles City. Jeremy enjoys collecting tractors and his auctioneer duties.
Sam is our Superior Lumber mascot.

Clear Lake Staff
Scott Hart, Manager
Scott relocated with his family to Iowa from California. He has over twenty years in the Lumber and Building Material Industry. Scott will be able to assist you with any estimate to get your project off the ground. Scott enjoys hunting, fishing and time with his wife and daughters.
Cheryl Nesbit, Office Manager
Cheryl has been working as an Account Payable and Receivable Office Manager for over 30 years. She has now been with Superior Lumber, Clear Lake since 2012. You can find her ready to assist you in our Clear Lake store. In her free time, Cheryl enjoys quality time with her family and quilting projects.
You will find Breton in the yard or behind the wheel of a delivery truck. He grew up playing football for the Clear Lake Lions and continues to call Clear Lake his home. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing for Muskie and Walleye.
Hunter assists customers in the yard, unloads freight and delivers orders to the Clear Lake Contractors. He loves the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
New Hampton Staff
Andy Hintgen, Yard Manager
Andy brings with him nearly 15 years of retail management experience to this position. Andy knows his way around all aspects of the retail business and isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty in the yard. He resides in Charles City and in his off hours enjoys taking his camper to the lake to relax with this wife and two children.
DeAnna Banwwell, Office Manager
DeAnna has made New Hampton her home with her husband (Bill) after living in Minnesota for this past 25 years. Her background is Business/H.R. Management, Bookkeeping and Technology Project Management. In her free time she enjoys gardening, billiards and spending time with family, friends and her furry kiddos.
Courtney comes to us with over 30 years of customer service experience. You will find Courtney assisting customers, unloading freight, delivery material, building a shed or feed bunk or inside behind the counter. He and his family live outside of Charles City. Courtney enjoys nascar and football.
